Ⅰ. A Brief Introduction to Hubei Engineering  University

Hubei Engineering University (HBEU), a provincial regular multi-disciplinary comprehensive university, was established upon the approval by the Ministry of Education. It is located in the downtown of Xiaogan City, a sub-central city of Wuhan, the National Modern Agricultural Demonstration Zone, the National Demonstration Base of Combination of Military and Civilian Industrialization and the Xiaogan National High-tech  Zone-Xiaogan City. It’s only 50 kilometers away from downtown Wuhan. It takes only 18 minutes to the airport by inter-city high speed train. The transportation is convenient and the location advantage is obvious.

The school was founded as Third Provincial Teacher-Training School in 1943.  After merging with Xiaogan Branch of Huazhong Agricultural College and Southern Urban-Rural Construction School, it was renamed as Hubei Engineering  University in December 2011. Therefore, the university has a history of 76 years so far.

At present, HBEU covers an area of 116.53hectares, with campus floor area of 0.73 million square meters. The teaching and research equipment, such as transmission electron microscopes and nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometers, are valued at 173 million RMB, with the collection of books of 25.2 million volumes. More than 20,000 students are registered. There are more than 200 teachers with Doctor’s Degree.

HBEU has 18 schools offering 66 undergraduate programs covering 10 disciplines including engineering, science, agriculture, economics, management, law, education, literature, medicine and arts. Among them, 2 are national outstanding agricultural and forestry talent training programs. 1 is a national comprehensive reform pilot program of “Electronic information science and technology” . 3 majors, namely biological science, horticulture and chemistry, are branded as China ’s characteristic majors in national colleges and universities. There are 19 provincial undergraduate programs in automation, high polymer material science and technology, optical information science and technology, Chinese language and literature, comprehensive reform pilot program, strategic emerging (pillar) industrial talent training program, and "Jingchu outstanding talent" collaborative education program. There are 5 provincial key disciplines such as agricultural resources and environment, material science and engineering, optical engineering, education and botany. One new type of biomass based material with provincial advantages and characteristics; There are 24 academic platforms such as key laboratory of quality and safety control of characteristic fruits and vegetables in Hubei province , the new rural development research institute in Hubei province, plant functional components utilization engineering technology research center in Hubei province, Hubei provincial key laboratory of crop diseases, monitoring and safety control, Hubei provincial collaborative innovation center for the conversion and utilization of biomass resources, provincial graduate work station run in collaboration between Hubei Engineering University and Xiaogan Agricultural Research Institute .

Ⅱ. Admissions Program

A. Chinese Language

1. Target Students

Applicants are welcomed who are willing to have undergraduate study in China and under 26 years with a senior school diploma.

2. Period of Study

Half a year or one year

3. Educational Objectives and Learning Standards

Pass HSK level 4 or above, issue corresponding certificate.

B. Bachelor’s Degree Programs

1. Target Students and Major

Applicants are welcomed who are willing to have bachelor’s degree in China and under 25 years with a senior school diploma.

2. Bachelor Degree Major

3. Discipline and Specialty Educational Objectives

Those who have HSK4 certificate will enter the professional study directly. If not, students can first enter the preparatory study of Chinese language for half a year or one year. After passing the HSK4 level examination, students can enter the professional study.

Discipline and Specialty Educational Objectives and graduation requirements are consistent with those of Chinese students majoring in relevant disciplines of our university (Detailed information will be on the website of each school of our university

http://www.hbeu.cn/zzjg1/jx_kyjg.htm). Flexible study length will be implemented (the shortest study length should not be less than the basic study length –1 year and the longest study length should not exceed the basic study period + 2 years).

Students who meet the requirements of graduation and degree awarding will be conferred a graduation certificate and a Bachelor’s degree from Hubei Engineering University. (By approval from Chinese Ministry of Education).

4. Teaching Method

Teaching Language is Chinese. The class will be held only if the students’ number reaches 20 or more. The students will enter proper classes to learn major courses if the students’ number is less than 20.

III. Tuition and other Fees

TIPS:

1. According to the laws and regulations of the People's Republic of China, international students in China are required to purchase the insurance as the necessary materials for the registration of the new semester. The cost is CNY800 /person/year, and the expenses shall be borne by students themselves.

2. The students can choose the campus canteen to have meals as they prefer, which will be paid by students themselves. The cost is around CNY1000/person/month.

IV. Scholarship

A. President Scholarship for International Students (CNY Yuan per year)

Description:

1. Chinese language Program: The president scholarship is       only offered for half a year or one year (Subject to the admission       letter).

2. Bachelor degree Program:

For separate classes of professional study in which international student numbers are 20 or above,  the president scholarship  will be provided for the basic study length -1 year (students are  qualified in all  subjects). For students   who join the classes of  professional study, the president scholarship will be provided for the basic study length (students are qualified in all subjects).

3. HBEU provides work-study jobs.

   B.Hubei Province Government Scholarship for International Students (CNY Yuan per year)

Outstanding students can apply for that.                              CNY10,000 /person/year for Chinese  language students           bachelor degree program students. Subject to the relevant   notice of scholarship application of Hubei     provincial government.

V. Application Procedures and Deadline

2. Necessary documents for application

Passport (Original), highest degree certificate, score transcripts during their schooling, social practice awards and academic achievements (Original, translated copy in Chinese or English), HSK certificate (if any),  reference letter, personal study plan, photos, Health Certificate (Original), Certificate of Non-Criminal Record (Original, translated copy in Chinese or English), Bank statement (Original, translated copy in Chinese or English), etc.

3. How to apply and the application deadline

Please send the application form and other documents (application form and president scholarship application form to HBEU before 30^th June in 2019 (for autumn semester), and 30^th December in 2019 (for spring semester).

VI. Admission and Notice

1. After receiving the application, the documents will be checked by experts within 2 weeks and Hubei Provincial Department of Education will make pre-admission approval online.

2. The school will send the pre-admission letter to students. At the same time, we will inform the students to pay for registration fees CNY 500/ person to the university account within 2 weeks.

3. We will send the original JW202 and Admission letter to the students (early September for autumn semester;     late January or early February for spring semester) who have paid registration fees.

4. Students apply for X Visa in local Chinese Embassy with Admission Letter, Form JW202, health certificate and other essential materials, register and pay related expenses on schedule.

5. Students take the JW202 , Admission letter, and other documents to register in school and pay other fees.

Notice:

A. We can issue admission confirmation letters for students when students meet the problems in visa processing.

B. In principle, students admitted to HBEU are not allowed to change the majors and universities as specified in    the admission letter. Students are not allowed to transfer to other universities in principle.

VII. Registration Time

Spring semester: early March in 2020

Autumn semester: middle October in 2019

Notice: The exact time will be based on the admission letter. If there is any delay in registration due to special        reasons, students should apply in advance and issue relevant certificates, such as illness, family accident, natural   disaster, etc. Otherwise, it will be deemed to be automatically abandoned.

VIII. Transportation

A. Train or Bus: Directly arrive by getting off at Xiaogan railway station, Xiaogan east railway station and Xiaogan bus station or transfer through other stations.

B. Flight: To Wuhan  Tianhe Airport, and transfer by Hanxiao Intercity railway to Xiaogan east railway station.

Note: Xiaogan North Railway Station (high-speed railway station) is not recommended since it is about        100km away from Xiaogan city and the traffic is inconvenient.
